"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit whom those who believed in him were later to receive.(John 7:37,39) He had offered this living waters earlier to the Samaritan woman by the well and said to her: "The water I give will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:14) That's the best part of the offer! It never runs out! When the wine ranout at the wedding in Cana, Jesus offered the new wine and the master of the banquet tasted the water that was turned to wine and said, "Everyone bring out the choice wine first ... but you have saved the best till now." (John 2:10)The sooner we realise our shortfalls, the better because then Jesus can offer us his best! "But no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, 'The old is better.'" (Luke 5:39) Let go of the old and begin to revel in the new! The best is yet to come, if we would ask for it today! "If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"( Luke 11:13)
